Melby Wealth Management was created by Shaun Melby, CFP® to better serve generations (Millennial and Generation X) that need financial planning the most but the traditional financial services culture ignores them. This mission has enabled us to better serve clients of all generations work towards achieving their retirement goals.
While located in Nashville Tennessee, our clients are not limited to only those in our area. Shaun’s experience with the entertainment industry enables him to serve clients throughout the United States and meetings can be conducted on a virtual basis if desired.

+ WHO IS YOUR TYPICAL CLIENT?
I work mostly with young professionals (Millennial and Generation X), business owners and entrepreneurs, those in the entertainment industry (musicians, athletes, professionals), and families.
+ WHO WOULD NOT BE A GOOD FIT?
If you are not ready to get serious about your personal finances, you will not be a good fit. I will not be able to serve you the way my clients deserve and expect to be served.
+ AM I REQUIRED TO MEET WITH YOU IN PERSON?
No - while meeting in person is preferable, I understand it isn't always the most convenient way to communicate. I utilize ZOOM for virtual meetings and meetings can always be conducted the old fashioned way over the phone.
+ DO YOU HELP ANYONE OUTSIDE THE NASHVILLE AREA?
Yes - in fact, my prior experience as a business manager in the entertainment industry has enabled me to serve clients outside the Nashville area just as if they were Nashville residents.
+ HOW DO YOU APPROACH WORKING WITH CLIENTS?
My approach with clients is that you are having a once in a lifetime experience. No one else has ever been there before. So your financial plan should reflect that and be a customized solution only for you. I have a hands on approach and want to make sure my clients understand their plan, the course of action, and what the expected results should be.

+ DO YOU HAVE AN ACCOUNT MINIMUM REQUIREMENT?
No - I do not have an account minimum. I want to encourage people to get started with investing even if they only have $100 to start with. I created Melby Wealth Management to help as many people as possible, and having an account minimum requirement goes directly against my mission.
+ WHAT DOES "FEE-ONLY" MEAN?
Fee-only financial advisors are paid directly by clients for their services, be it a flat fee, hourly rate or a percentage of assets under management. Fee-only financial advisors can never be paid on a commission from selling a product.
In my opinion, being a fee-only advisor is the best way to align my clients interests with my own - thus reducing potential conflicts of interest or issues with fiduciary responsibility.
+ WHAT IS A CFP® PROFESSIONAL?
Certified Financial Planner (CFP) is a formal recognition of expertise in the areas of financial planning, taxes, insurance, estate planning, and retirement. Owned and awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., the designation is awarded to individuals who successfully complete the CFP Board's initial exams, then continue ongoing annual education programs to sustain their skills and certification. + WHAT IS A FIDUCIARY AND FIDUCIARY STANDARD?
A fiduciary is a person or organization that acts on behalf of another person or persons to manage assets. Essentially, a fiduciary owes to that other entity the duties of good faith and trust. The highest legal duty of one party to another, being a fiduciary requires being bound ethically to act in the other's best interests.
The fiduciary standard of care requires that a financial advisor act solely in the client’s best interest when offering personalized financial advice.

Yes - I am legally held to a fidcuiary standard and have taken a number of fiduciary oathes.
